On 12 March, many people had travelled to the École des Ponts ParisTech engineering school to support the 12 participants in the Université Paris-Est final of the Ma thèse en 180 secondes (My thesis in 180 seconds) competition. After the presentations, two candidates were selected by the Jury and the Audience to represent the academic community at the competition's national semi-final, taking place next April in Boulogne-Billancourt.

Robin Isnard, from the Sciences, Ingénierie et Environnement (Science, Engineering and Environment) doctoral school, thus received the Jury Prize for the presentation of his thesis "Characterization of the organic matter in the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko", produced at the Inter-University Laboratory of Atmospheric Systems (LISA).

The Jury was composed of Alexandre Maitrot de la Motte, First Vice-President of Université Paris-Est and President of the Jury, Samar Delpeuch, Regional Coordinator of Culture/Higher Education and Research at CASDEN Banque Populaire, Federico Nicotra, a scientific journalist at France Télévisions, and Myriam Duc, a researcher at the Rocks and Geotechnical Structures Laboratory of Ifsttar, the French Institute of Science and Technology for Transport, Development and Networks.

Fabien Esculier, a researcher at the Water, Environment and Urban Systems Laboratory (Leesu), was selected by the audience and won the Audience Award for the presentation of his thesis "The nutrition/excretion system of urban areas: socioecological regimes and transitions" which he defended in March 2018.

Congratulations to the two winners as well as all the other candidates: Arina Lazareva, Marie Le Pivert, Nour Mattar, Mouad Ramil, Clément Dusong, Thomas Fonty, Fabien Esculier, Victor Cohen, Georges Alexopoulos, Victor Bayard, Robin Isnard.
