The Higher Education and Research Community in Eastern Île de France adopted the brand name Paris-Est Sup on September 28, 2020. This new brand, which aims to unite all the region’s higher education and research bodies, reflects the institutional changes that have been initiated on the site.

The definition of the brand name Paris-Est Sup is the culmination of an identity and participatory research study carried out by ComUE Paris-Est – supported by the Campus Com agency – alongside its member institutions and staff.

  • The name: Paris-Est Sup underlines the university’s regional commitment and defines its scope – higher education and research.
  • Brand label: “One community united by knowledge” (Une communauté, des savoirs) adds the finishing touch by referring to the values shared by ComUE and its member institutions – dialogue, common goals and the pursuit of excellence. It also emphasises the unifying spirit that connects all the institutions on the site. This analysis subsequently led to the creation of the brand’s visual identity.
  • Logo: the "word-image" is based on the name of the brand, and is arranged in the form of a square –signifying steadiness and stability. The inclusion of visual symbols – the typographic dashes moving eastwards – rounds off the graphics.

Paris-Est Sup: a new brand in a new institutional context

The creation of the Paris-Est Sup brand reflects the institutional changes that the Paris-Est site has undergone over the last three years. The I-SITE label obtained in 2017, together with the creation of Université Gustave Eiffel on January 1, 2020, has led ComUE and its member institutions to redefine their missions:

  • Regional coordination on behalf of its member and partner institutions and, more generally, for a site policy. ComUE remains a shared space for political discussion for its institutions, ensuring they are represented in policy matters on subjects of common interest;
  • The introduction of the new doctoral system with registration and graduation handed back to member institutions. ComUE supports the doctoral college common to the entire region;
  • The creation of a project mission promoting the emergence and development of joint scientific projects positioned at the interfaces between institutions, disciplines and missions.

The creation of the Paris-Est Sup brand reflects the agreement of the institutions on the site to pursue a global policy for the eastern Île de France region. Even more than an attachment to ComUE, it represents their strong ties to the region. Paris-Est Sup will also improve our visibility with our different communities and partners.
